Memory Cards

It is important to carry great quality and high performing memory cards. I use the ones from SanDisk. I use both the Extreme Pro SD cards and Micro SD cards. The case that I use to carry these cards is a 36 slots memory card case from JJC.

Power Bank

Keeping your devices powered while traveling is important. I use the portable chargers from Inui. They are the most slim and lightweight portable charger that i have ever used. The best part is they come in a pack of 2.

How to Backup Photos & Videos While Traveling

Imagine this, you're on an epic adventure you've dreamt about for years. You've invested in a new camera and have taken a lot of photos and videos to document your experience. And just when you thought you were having the time of your life on your dream trip, your camera gets stolen or you lose the memory card that has all your footage on it. So then what? This is why it is very crucial to securely back up your photos and videos while traveling.

Trust me, I have made my fair share of mistakes, and this is why I am writing this so that you don't have to make the same mistakes. I back up my photos and videos on a short or long trip. Once a week, I make a backup of the backup. Yes, it might sound crazy, but trust me. It is necessary to ensure you do not lose any files.

  1. Use reliable memory cards

One of the best ways to back up your photos while traveling is to make sure that your memory cards are reliable and of good quality. I have had experiences before where my memory cards have failed on me, and it was not a pleasant time.

  2. Backup to Your Laptop

Memory cards over time experience wear and tear, so do not just store photos on these only. It is important to transfer them over to a laptop. While I travel, I always have my MacBook Air with me. At the end of each day, I immediately transfer my photos and videos onto my computer.

  3. Backup to other mobile devices

It is possible to back up your photos without a laptop. You can backup to your iPad or iPhone instead. Backup to your Apple mobile phone or tablet by importing photos and videos using adapters

  4. Backup using an external Hard Drive

Practice getting in the habit of using external hard drives to back up photos and videos. This is another way to backup photos while traveling without internet. I have two 4TB Seagate External Portable Hard Drives and three 2TB Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD

  5. Use an online backup while traveling

Another effective photo backup method while traveling is using iCloud storage. Some cloud storage is free, but it has a storage limit. Not a fan of iCloud? No worries, Google Photos is another great option. A secure cloud backup can give you peace of mind if anything were to happen to your physical backups.
